Met Retail building anchors the entrance to the Met Center mixed use development. The design was guided by challenging site constraints, which included an underground gas pipeline. A specially detailed, board-formed concrete wall, serves as a design element and centerpiece as well as blast protection from the pipeline, while contrasting simple CMU block walls wrap the remainder of the building in a minimalist fashion. The North facade is a wall of butt-joined glazing which provides an uninterrupted view and connection to Downtown Austin.
