Riata Vista Cafè
Building 5 Café, the central hub of the 1.1M s.f. Riata Vista campus, offers a diverse selection of cuisines and seating options for employees and guests. With 17 chef stations, including sushi, bakery, and coffee bars spread across multiple floors, the café provides a dynamic dining experience.
The two-story space features an expansive outdoor patio, an all-glass façade, and seating along both the glass walls and balcony. It also includes a concierge area and a learning lab where employees can explore new products. Every detail, from the large loading dock to the back-of-house kitchen areas, was carefully designed to uphold the polished aesthetic of the campus. Seamless coordination between the head campus chef, kitchen designer, architectural team, MEP engineers, and equipment designers was vital to achieving the success of these spaces.
Challenge:
Working with a fast-paced client on the cutting edge of technology presented the challenge of adapting to evolving needs. One key example was the food ordering process for the café. Originally designed with iPads and specialized ordering stations, the system was overhauled mid-construction in favor of a phone-based ordering process. This unexpected shift in requirements created a need for quick adjustments in the design and infrastructure.
Solution:
The design team responded by swiftly modifying the building’s infrastructure to accommodate the new phone-based system. By thinking creatively, we were able to repurpose parts of the original design, ensuring minimal disruption while still meeting the client’s new technological requirements. This flexibility allowed us to stay aligned with the client’s innovative approach and deliver a functional, forward-thinking solution.
