Wayside – REAL Learning Academy
Studio8 reimagined a beloved Southeast Austin institution, transforming an old, dark Target box store into the vibrant Real Learning Academy. Completed in multiple phases and on a tight budget, this project brought new life to the space, creating an elementary school designed to expand the Academy’s mission: preparing every child, regardless of background, to thrive in college and achieve their fullest potential.
Daylight was a priority for this project. Despite a tight budget, Studio8 incorporated 29 clear skylights, allowing children and staff to observe the sun’s progression throughout the day.
Colors were strategically chosen and placed throughout the building for wayfinding, helping the students to easily navigate through spaces.
