Make Ready Market featured in Retrofit Magazine
Located between Broadway and the scenic San Antonio River, Make Ready Market is River North’s top “glad you’re here spot.” This vibrant food hall showcases a diverse range of eateries, featuring culinary delights from San Antonio’s renowned chefs and rising stars. Housed in the historic Cavender Cadillac dealership, the market offers a unique, multi-restaurant dining experience in a beautifully repurposed setting.
Salvaged trusses and an enhanced structure now support a new roof and skylights, while the original paint on the columns preserves the building’s historic character. The furniture, featuring maker tables on casters and vintage utility stools, adds a playful workshop/garage vibe. The entire building required a new slab, which allowed the team to add a raised platform inside. This addressed the exterior grading where the alley once was, provided an ADA-compliant entry and ramp, and added more depth to the interior space.

The custom booth benches feature stitching details reminiscent of old leather car seats, paying homage to the building’s history as a former Cadillac dealership. The restrooms feature lighting intentionally subtle to car headlights and steel porcelain sinks commonly found in a restroom in the ’50s.
All existing masonry was salvaged, relocated, patched and painted when creating new openings. The exposed structure adds character to the space.
