Central Texas Food Bank
Since 1993, Studio8 has partnered with Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) to support their mission of hunger relief across 21 counties and combat food insecurity, particularly among children. This new facility reflects CTFB’s critical role in the community, with expanded warehousing, refrigeration, and distribution capabilities. The design enables the Food Bank to triple its food distribution capacity, increasing from 30 million to 60 million pounds per year.
The volunteer check-in and warehouse areas feature a glass opening, enhancing transparency and creating a direct connection to CTFB’s mission.
One of the food bank’s conference rooms — likely the one that will be used for board meetings — overlooks the corporate, commercial kitchen so attendees can watch the activity below while conducting business.
The new facility features 15 loading docks, more than twice the amount of dry storage space, and seven times the refrigerator and frozen storage of the former facility, all in a more accessible location with less traffic for trucks and partner groups.
The design features an open-air garden pavilion adjacent to the existing greenhouse, including a classroom, outdoor kitchen, durable furniture, storage, and restrooms for staff and volunteers, supporting food education, production, and fundraising events.
