The Ascension Rx Pharmacy Services Center is a multifaceted facility that serves as a specialty pharmacy, distribution center and patient engagement hub for Ascension Rx sites across the U.S. This new home base expands and centralizes Ascension Rx specialty pharmacy operations, enables high-volume home delivery and creates efficiencies in processing and patient support.
Ascension Rx Pharmacy Services Center is a first-generation, interior finish-out to create a robust mail-order pharmacy and distribution center, along with offices, conference rooms, break room, walk-in refrigeration with ultra-low temperatures, equipment, and other support space. Extensive mechanical, electrical, and plumbing improvements were made to ensure strict control of the interior environment, as well as backup service in case of power outages. Multiple levels of security for the space include bulletproof glass, bulletproof walls, interior and exterior cameras, and multi-access capable badge readers for the interior doors.
In addition to typical interior finishes, the project also includes exterior building improvements to the existing spandrel glass to provide better insulation of the space, a new exterior dock and ramps to serve truck arrivals and departures, and new mechanical equipment platform and screen on the roof.
The Mail Order Dispensary features a conveyor belt with manual fill stations and adjacent workstations, complemented by high-density storage for efficient operations.
The conveyor seamlessly integrates through the secured zones of Narcotics and Specialty Pharmacy, ensuring streamlined and protected transport.
The Narcotics Area is a highly secure, caged space strategically positioned near the conveyor, equipped with dedicated refrigeration and freezing units to ensure optimal storage conditions.
The facility includes a walk-in freezer for shipping packs and vaccine storage, a walk-in refrigerator for medications, and a temperature monitoring system with alarms to ensure compliance and prompt notification of deviations.
The honeycomb cubicles, designed for Virtual Medical History Advocates, are equipped with privacy panels to ensure confidentiality.
