Confidential Semi-Conductor Subcontractor
A leading supplier of critical subsystems and ultra-high-purity services for the semiconductor industry expanded its operations into a newly constructed 180,500-square-foot shell tilt-wall building in Manor, TX.
Studio8 Architects transformed the space into a dynamic and functional facility, incorporating office areas, cleanrooms, open fabrication zones, and a high-piled storage warehouse.
Designed to inspire employees and impress clients, the space features open offices, flexible meeting rooms, spacious breakrooms, and a reimagined exterior entry with mechanical yards. To meet the company’s operational needs, the project was carefully phased, allowing early use of key areas while maintaining a smooth construction process.
Challenge
Subcontracting to large chip manufacturing clients presents the challenge of meeting varying environmental requirements for cleanliness. The ideal solution would be a room capable of adjusting its filtration levels on demand to accommodate different standards, which is not currently feasible.
Solution
To address this issue, we designed the filtration system to the minimum size necessary, while ensuring that the return air chases are built to allow for future expansion. This design approach permits the addition of filtration capacity up to the maximum required amount, enabling flexibility to meet different cleanliness standards as needed.
While the cleanrooms and fabrication areas are designed to be pristine yet modest, the reception and office areas are intended to be professional, welcoming, and comfortable. Using warmer wood tones and splashes of color created a comfortable and beautiful environment for staff and visitors.
