The UT Microelectronics & Engineering Research Center (UT MER) is a hub for cutting-edge research in solid-state electronics, encompassing semiconductor materials, optoelectronics, photonics, and advanced device technologies.

Leveraging an interdisciplinary approach and strong industry partnerships within Austin’s electronics community, UT MER drives innovation in microelectronics through collaboration with leading organizations and partnerships.

This project involved transforming existing labs and warehouse spaces into state-of-the-art cleanrooms, including two ISO 5 (Class 100) and two ISO 6 (Class 1,000) cleanrooms, along with supporting areas such as clean corridors, gowning, and wipe-down stations. Upgrades also addressed parking, accessible routes, door hardware, and adjacent restrooms to meet Texas accessibility standards. Phase II focused on converting additional space into Class 100 cleanrooms tailored for specific tool installations.

The utility chase serves as a low-return air pathway, efficiently integrated into the mechanical system through close coordination with MEP consultants.
