Christian Family Church
Christian Family Church (CFC) is a growing congregation on Loop 1604, and part of a church movement well established in South Africa, with this San Antonio location marking their first in the United States.
With their current 500 seat sanctuary requiring two separate services to accommodate the congregation, CFC engaged Studio8 in late 2024 to design a new worship center that would allow the church to bring its community together under one roof. The conceptual design centers on a new 1,000 seat worship center featuring administrative offices, support spaces, and a ground floor lobby designed to double as an event space for large gatherings. Rather than placing the building directly along the busy 1604 corridor, the design pulls the structure back from the road and introduces a new gateway entrance to establish a strong, welcoming presence for the campus.
The plan also strengthens connectivity to CFC’s existing buildings through an activated outdoor lawn, sport court, and covered seating areas.
The front entry and covered drop-off welcome worshippers, where tilt wall construction meets warm corrugated metal accents and exposed steel details, blending durability with a modern, inviting aesthetic.
Inside, a lobby cafeteria and catering kitchen support pre service gatherings and special events, while a dedicated kids’ area allows families the flexibility to step outside the sanctuary when needed, with in lobby TVs keeping the service within view.
A vibrant café and bookstore invite connection and conversation, while overlooking balconies add character and openness to the space. Upstairs, flexible second floor classrooms provide the perfect setting for their Growth Track classes, supporting learning and community every step of the way.
The auditorium features full audio capabilities, with a baptismal pool located in a balcony to the left of the stage. The floor is gently sloped rather than tiered, keeping the congregation connected as one unified space.
