HID Global World Headquarters
HID Global Corp., founded in 1991 as Hughes Identification Devices, a division of Hughes Aircraft Co., is a global leader in Secure Identity Solutions. To streamline operations and boost efficiency, the company consolidated its North American operations under one roof in a state-of-the-art facility in Austin, Texas. This LEED Platinum CI and 4-Star AEGB certified project includes a two-story office, manufacturing, and warehouse space, making it the first industrial facility in Texas to achieve LEED Platinum CI certification.
The tall warehouse and production area’s clear height requirements created a disproportionate two-story office structure. This was creatively addressed by using spandrel glass to visually break up the vertical mass into horizontal bands, giving the office section a dominant three-story appearance.
The curved glass and rounded ACM panel edges echo the design of the proximity cards produced at the facility.
Behind these walls and varying levels of control is a tightly run operation that handles data for Homeland Security, Immigrations and Custom Enforcement, and top-level data protections for numerous Fortune 500 companies.
We designed tailored exhibit displays for the Innovation Showcase, crafting an engaging experience that allowed potential clients to explore the full range of HID’s products.
Sandblasting the HID logo into the glass connector provided a discreet way to incorporate branding while also enhancing the structural integrity of the glass surrounding the multipurpose training center.
High-performance doors separate the warehouse and manufacturing area from the hallway to the ISO 7 (Class 10,000) Cleanrooms, opening and closing quickly to minimize exposure to the external environment.
